Established in 1907, this four-story industrial loft stands as a testament to craftsmanship, resilience, and transformation in the heart of downtown Madison. By 2023, the building was showing its age, and Masonry Restoration, Inc. Was engaged to restore its historic integrity. The project included the complete removal and rebuilding of 140,000 bricks across three elevations, as well as repairs to the red brick veneer. Work also involved repointing with historic NHL mortar, facade cleaning, and lintel replacement, ensuring both preservation and long-term durability.
Initial steps focused on documenting visible damage across the building envelope. Work included Historic Preservation, Masonry Rebuilding, carried out to correct deterioration across affected areas. This process supported a more resilient and predictable exterior system.
With weakened areas restored, the building envelope now performs more consistently under environmental stress.
