Beginning in March 2016, Masonry Restoration, Inc. Was engaged to install wire mesh on three dome structures. The project began with the installation of stainless steel brackets onto the concrete frames, which anchored the netting securely. In some areas, flashing was added to the brackets to prevent contact with other metal elements and avoid potential corrosion. Stainless steel cables were then connected to the brackets, forming the support structure for the mesh. The installation of the stainless steel diamond mesh netting allowed the structures to remain open to the public throughout the project. Access challenges were significant, requiring specialized aerial lifts brought in from across the country to reach the domes safely and efficiently. The project was completed in October 2016, ahead of schedule and under budget.
At the start of the project, Masonry Restoration, Inc. examined areas requiring repair. Our team performed Structural Concrete Repair, Facade Stabilzaition to address the deficiencies identified during assessment. The completed work helped maintain compatibility among restored materials.
With weakened areas restored, the building envelope now performs more consistently under environmental stress.
